Gorgeous Jersey boy Monachyle was rescued from a dairy farm at birth, along with his “brother”, Mingerlay.  Male calves born to dairy herds are destroyed at birth so it is very rare to see full grown jersey boys.  We had gone to the farm to see if they had a calf to keep our rescued Highland calf company, and as it was the weekend, these 2 boys had a reprieve until the Monday…we were told to pick one, but couldn’t doom the other to die, so ended up coming home with both!  Monachyle is now 9 years old and he is the softest, most cuddly cow you could ever wish to meet….though given half a chance he may lick you red raw with his sandpaper tongue!  This boy is so chilled that volunteers can go lie over him when he is lying in the field and he won’t even move!
